My New Year’s Resolution: Let’s Do This.

Hello blogosphere! The past nine months since Barrett’s birth have been a bit of a whirlwind. I’ve struggled a lot, learned even more and am proud to say I’m happier and more secure than ever before. That said, I still want more! So, I’m about to take a risk. I’m about to be vulnerable and I’m about to put myself on blast. While I’ve taken strides to take better care of myself and also be easier on myself, there are areas in which I want to challenge myself. One in particular is this little blogging pet project.

I started it on a whim, mostly as a means of personal entertainment and to somewhat keep my writing chops fresh. For me, writing is therapeutic and it’s certainly fun. What’s resulted is an outlet for stress, an opportunity to connect and reach those who are experiencing the same struggles and that is one of the coolest things ever. Lately life has gotten in the way, or rather, I’ve allowed it to fall lower on my priority list than is reasonable – surely blogging is better for me than another trashy reality show, right?! So, I’ve resolved to publish 52 blogs – one per week – in 2017 and I hope you’ll help keep me honest.

I decided on this resolution about two weeks ago and despite my resolve to stick to it, I truthfully almost let myself off the hook this week. The excuses and doubts running through my head were pitiful: You have to time it appropriately. It needs to be pristine. What will you even write about? Isn’t Friday night way too late to post? Poppycock! Let’s do this.

Who cares if they’re not all perfect? So what if no one cares to read them? What does it matter if the photos aren’t incredible (hence, the pre-blog selfie on this post’s featured image)? No offense my darlings but this is for ME! At the moment, I’ve got lots of fun blog ideas brewing, including some of what my husband calls “witch doctoring” (aka natural remedies I’ve found as a mom), tips for how I manage the chaos of two itty bitties and maintain sanity, tips for meal planning to reduce the stress of cooking during the week and a few guest posts by some of my favorite. humans. ever… With that said, I’d love love LOVE to know what you (anyone who chances upon this post) would like to read! So, fire when ready friends. Also, if you haven’t already, go ahead and hit the follow button to get updates on my latest and greatest musings via email. If they aren’t thought provoking, I can all but guarantee they’ll be good for a laugh… You know, like shadenfreude!

Happy Friday and happy 2017!
