Oh, hey! It’s me and I’m 6 months pregnant. I’m technically 24 weeks and 3 days but I literally forgot that I had hit this milestone until Saturday. I guess that’s a sign that things are still going well or I’ve been too busy to notice.
Month 6 Breakdown
Gestational Age: 24 weeks
Gender: It’s a boy!
Baby Problems: For the most part I feel pretty awesome. However, just two days before the 6-month mark (Thanksgiving Eve) a girlfriend asked me how I was feeling and was surprised that I hadn’t really been sick at all. “I keep forgetting I’m pregnant!” I confidently beamed. Ha!!! That night I was praying to the porcelain gods. I think the little guy wanted to remind me who’s boss.
How Fat is Baby? (Mommy’s Weight Gain): 19 pounds total. Being pregnant through the holidays is both a blessing and a curse.
What is Baby Eating?: Nothing has sounded as good this month as smoothies and bagels. To be specific, Cody and I have ventured over to our local Jamba Juice and Einstein’s for a Greens ‘n Ginger smoothie and cranberry bagel toasted with honey almond cream cheese. Delicious. This month we’ve also been eating a lot of soups and our fair share of grilled cheese sandwiches. On the beverage front, I’ve been really enjoying ginger ale with lime as well as a good vanilla cream New York Seltzer.
What is Baby Avoiding?: Really not much has been off limits, woo hoo!
Baby’s Workout Regimen: Well it’s definitely getting harder to motivate and find time to exercise lately. Luckily, I’ve played a bit of volleyball and gotten in a few runs, but it’s been tough. We did, however, make it through our first 5k Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning in 26 degrees with snow! I’d say that counts for something, right? Additionally, as my belly grows, the weight is more difficult to be nimble with, so running has definitely become more difficult.
Baby’s Movement: This little dude is here, people! I feel him all day and he is not shy. He still loves kicking down into my pelvis and has started moving around the sharp kicks to other places around my belly.
Booby Milk Report: So, I assumed that once I weaned Cody that would be that. Especially since when the time finally came, she was as disinterested as a kid could be. However, over the weekend of my brother’s wedding, her schedule was seriously disrupted, resulting in a lot more snuggles and cuddles needed from mom. She also took it upon herself to lift up my shirt and help herself! This has happened a few more times since then but in the last two weeks, hasn’t showed any more interest. My breasts are definitely feeling more full, despite seeming mostly void of milk.
Baby’s Adventures: This month was no less crazy than the last. We started things off with a bang on Halloween. She went as the Stay Puft man and loved trick or treating at the four houses we visited. She even carried her candy bucket the entire time.
The following weekend we celebrated my brother’s wedding in Hollister, California. Thanks to some rather miraculous tailoring, we were able to pull off a bridesmaid dress that accommodated my bump nicely and several people commented that the didn’t even know I was pregnant, which surprised me.
We rounded off the month with an awesome visit from my parents for Thanksgiving week, including a visit to Santa. I’ll share more about the holiday later this week, including some awesome holiday dishes you can add to your repertoire, but with me sick the night before and Cody sick all of Thanksgiving and the entire day following, you could say we didn’t have quite the celebration we were expecting.

Stay tuned for our Thanksgiving recap and some yummy holiday recipes!
Oh Yeah, That Pregnancy Thing: Heartburn is such a thing. I do not recall experiencing it this early in my last pregnancy, nor do I recall being kept up all night with it. It hit me like a hurricane at week 22 and has continued steadily ever since. So far, I’ve been able to manage it fine with Tums but I’m a little bummed that it’s set in so early.
Baby’s FOMO: I miss being able to move without restriction. Caring for Cody is becoming increasingly difficult with a growing belly. Bath time, in particular has become a real struggle.
Baby’s To Dos: I am SO excited for Christmas! Typically, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, but something about being pregnant and having a super bubbly toddler running around this year is making me super stoked on the holiday. Please believe that our Christmas cards were delivered to friends and family the day after Thanksgiving because I’m that obsessive. I’ve almost finished decorating inside our house and have a month full of fun holiday activities planned. It’s going to be a great time!
Next Appointment: I’ve been terrible at scheduling these things. Since at my 20-week appointment everything looked great, my doctor said I didn’t need to come in for another 5-6 weeks to do my glucose test. Of course, I’ve procrastinated getting on the calendar but plan to go in the next two weeks, I swear!
